All the verses quoted from Christian scriptures, are from the Duoay-Rheims 1752 revised version of the Holy Bible.
The short poems I have penned down are inspired from prayers, or inspired through my relationships with other people.
I believe God exists in the beauty of all creations.
01
“Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thy health shall speedily arise, and thy justice shall go before thy face, and the glory of the Lord shall gather thee up.” Isaias 58:8
The sun
Wakes me up every morning
Touching me gently
With golden rays.
02
“Let love be without dissimulation”. Romans 12:9
Pure love,
It feels lighter and lighter
As it grows bigger.
You can carry it with you
Wherever you go.
03
“For I am the Lord, thy God, who take thee by the hand, and say to thee, fear not, I have helped thee”. Isais 41:13
Like a bird in a cage
My heart
remains locked inside
safely perched within.
Scared, ignorant and humiliated.
But when God hears me
And opens the doors of my cage
The wings of my heart start flapping again.
And I fly out,
perching on His arm
Knowing perfectly well
That I am safe.
04
”Strength and beauty are her clothing, and she shall laugh in the latter day.” Proverbs 31:25
When hell came down
She did not burn
She did not melt
She did not evaporate.
Because she was the fire herself.
And she destroyed hell.
05
”But if also you suffer anything for justice’s sake, blessed are ye”. St.Peter 3:14
When I hurt
And you let me be
I realize that I still have a soul
Thank you God!
06
“Amen, I say to you, unless you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.” St.Matt 18:3
I am like a child.
I can love for no real reason.
Come to me!
I can love you without knowing too much about you.
07
“As silver is tried by fire, and gold in the furnace, so the Lord trieth the hearts”. Proverbs 17:3
In the beginning
I was pure gold.
The way my Creator made me.
And then I collected dust.
Impurities.
To get harder, to bend easier
Like an alloy for others to mold.
I have been tested and tried.
And now I come to you
To wash me clean.
And to restore my golden soul.
08
“And Mary said, my soul doth magnify the Lord. And my Spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour”. St.Luke 1:46-47
I love you so much
My God, who saves my soul!
I feel as free as an eagle
Soaring high above in the skies.
09
“As one whom the mother caresseth, so will I comfort you, and you shall be comforted in Jerusalem”. Isaias 66:13
And the child
floated within the mother
like a world
in it’s universe.
10
“His truth shall compass thee with a shield: thou shalt not be afraid of the terror of the night”. Psalm 90:5
God,your spirit lives in me.
So when the night gets darker
My instincts get sharper.
11
”The Lord ruleth over me, there is nothing I shall want.” Psalm 22:1
I heard many voices
But I didn’t understand them all.
I saw many faces
But I didn’t memorize them all.
I heard many names
But I didn’t remember them all.
I did many acts
I don’t recall them all.
I said many words
I don’t even know why.
I liked and disliked many people
I don’t know what was the point.
But I pray. And be kind.
And that, I know why.
That’s my hope.
12
Help
When I was trapped in darkness
I needed help.
I forgot how to scream
But someone showed me a light.
It was very far away
And I walked towards it.
When I reached there
the light was so bright it blinded me.
I needed help again
But this time,
I could help myself.
13
Healing the mind
I needed healing
Because I was bleeding.
A wise man told me so.
It was true,
My wounds were open.
So I prayed
That they close up.
To stop the bleeding
So I can start healing.
14
“This is the greatest and the first commandment”, St.Matthew 22:38
I knew love
When I saw your eyes tear up
And you were still smiling at me.
I knew love
When you impersonated my bad parts
forgetting your goodness
and promised to be by my side
through the light and the darkness.
I knew love
because you were transforming me.
15
WIFE
In her presence
He saw a light.
He saw a lamp
Which he could place
Before the house of his children.
16
If you open me up
You will find nothing.
Except a clean mirror
And a reflection of you.
17
DREAM
I wonder
if we will meet again.
And share a laugh.
I often dream
About sharing a dream with you.
18
LIFE PARTNER
Like a moving train
with many pauses
and changing faces,
my life raced on.
And then you boarded!
Thank you for joining me
on this journey
till the last destination.
19
INTIMACY
Everything I do
Let me do it for someone.
Let that someone be you.
I do not understand love
Intimacy too.
Dive into it with me.
If not deep, it’s a bottomless sea.
We can breathe together
And swim forever.
Even after the world is over.
I can exist in imagination.
20
PARADISE OF PLEASURE
“And the Lord God took man, and put him into the paradise of pleasure, to dress it, and to keep it.” Genesis 2:15
God gave Adam
A ‘paradise of pleasure.’
But that wasn’t enough for him.
He lived in beauty
Enjoyed care
Was nourished
And had responsibility.
And yet that wasn’t enough for him.
So Woman came to be.
Not just as a mere helper
But as the help itself
Which came from God.
She came to be, because
The paradise of pleasure wasn’t enough for him.
21
BYSTANDER
When it rains
I look outside
Staying indoors.
Watching the world get wet outside
While I stay dry.
When it snows
I watch the world outside go cold
While I stay warm.
I am sometimes, a bystander.
One among the audience
Watching a drama
Sober and breathing,
Hoping to laugh.
22
Rumi had said
between right and wrong
there is a garden.
And I will meet you there.
I had met you there.
with right and wrong on either side
not knowing the difference.
Sometimes
I come back running to that garden
but you are not there anymore.
You left the garden to me.
And I stand among the roses
time slipping away through my fingers
both ways don’t matter anymore.
23
FRIENDSHIP
” A faithful friend is a strong defense: and he who hath found him has found a treasure”. Sirach 6:14
Friendship, like water
Exists somehow.
Sometimes it gets heated up
and vanishes
to later cool and rest as droplets.
Sometimes it freezes into ice.
Sometimes that melts later to make a flood!
Sometimes, it’s perfect for a swim.
It exists around us all the time
Keeping us alive.
24
PLATONIC LOVE
How do you love someone you don’t see?
By keeping him in that secret room
Somewhere deep inside
The door to which he once opened
And then shut forever.
25
GUESTS
As I walked through the streets
At the end of my work
A guest came my way.
I served him tea, lemon
As golden as his hair.
After church, days later
A guest came by home.
I served him tea, blueberry
Sweet, purple and tangy.
After a game one day,
Another guest came my way.
I served him tea as well
An Irish breakfast, as strong as hell.
Then came my way
A guest, loud and heavy.
And
Another guest, healing and dearly.
I fed them mushrooms and water.
And at last I met him
Whom I permitted to stay.
I could talk to him
And trust him with my way.
I served him nothing
Other than a view of my soul.
I saw him once
And it brought me renaissance.
My guests, I feed you my peace.
Now leave.
All souls need grace
and to heaven’s narrow door
I have the keys.
26
EVERYTHING
I am everything;
Hence, I am nothing.
I wish I was something.
Anything.
One thing.
27
SANDY
From the first moment I saw him
30 feet away
With his golden hair
Walking towards me
With his grey-blue eyes
I felt I saw my angel
In disguise.
He saved me like a lunatic.
He blew away the blocks
That created my rigid world
And broke down
My icy glacier of tears.
Into a river, which streamed out for a year
Until it was through
And my soul turned blue.
Peaceful as the Chicago breeze,
He came, and vanished with ease.
Flashing images of the golden sands
And the summer beach
Still kissed my hands.
The grayish-blue of the water before
Sparkled like diamonds
Along the shore.
They brought me smiles
They brought me tears
They brought me love
And some fears.
Intense love, between ignorant hearts
Who neither know love,
or hatred, or anything beyond or above.
Are like the diamonds in the water
They sparkle for a while
And then go elsewhere better.
28
BREVITY OF PERFECTION
I found perfection
At a beautifully imperfect moment
On an imperfect day
for a few imperfect hours.
When you sat down before me.
The force of your silence told me everything
That you are the one I have been longing for.
My perfect reflection
through an imperfect mirror.
Where were you all these years?
Your presence made my mind go blank
Like a canvas that screamed out for strokes.
Your gaze made me feel seen
your silence gave me a voice
your questions gave me answers
Your soul offered me the support I never got.
King, you are.
But the perfect sunrise
and the perfect sunset
are both brief.
And just like that
you had to go.
Good for us we live in an imperfect world,
That does not deserve our perfect dance
under the moonlight
all night long.
29
MONEY VS LOVE
I do not have a baby
I do not have a career
I do not have much intimacy
I do not have many friends
I do not have a large family
I do not have parties
I do not have vacations
All I have
At this moment today
Is my body from God
My money from people
And festivals from culture.
And hope from within.
Can I buy a baby?
Can I create a career?
Can I buy intimacy?
Can I buy friends and create a family?
Can I buy into parties and
create vacations?
Can I buy them all
And still worship love in the end?
30
MEDITATION
When I close my eyes
And look around
Everything is so dark.
Yet, I see much more
I look for light intensely
And I find that all the light is right there
Within my heart.
31
SAY NO TO TRUE LOVE
All love is true
If it isn’t true, it isn’t love.
So love.
And when you realize it’s true,
someone always dies
for the other.
